Jeremiah—like the lonely, suffering Savior whom he foreshadowed—faithfully warned idolatrous Israel of impending judgment, but also gave the godly hope by means of his beautiful prophecies of a coming King and his Kingdom. Through the work of this greater son of David, God would cut a new covenant with His chosen people, and write His law, once and for all, upon their hearts. Thereafter, they would dwell with Him forever in the Promised Land.
How are we to understand these prophecies? Do they speak of ethnic Israel’s restoration to Palestine in the Last Days, or is God here giving us something far greater, something ultimate?
