I entered Other because I believe it is a mixture. Newer writers call it Eclectic. But predominantly, from our perspective 2000 years after John wrote it is about 80-85% Idealist.

Well as it was written 2000 years ago almost, it’s safe to say the only approach is the Preterist. The non millennial view simply refuses to be consistent because its adherents are creedal Christians first and read their scripture through that lens similar to the Muslim with his hadith being the lens through which his Qur’an his read.
Any other reading but the Preterist, quite frankly, can only add to the sceptics laughter as it clearly has failed abysmally as prophecy. The Historicist view is simply Desperate Dan and Confirmation Bias getting cosy. The Dispensationalist one suspects is the first example of undiagnosed ADHD, no doubt as a result of the pollution let loose into English waters as a consequence of the Industrial revolution and once migrated to the wide American plains it started painting the town red. or seeing it so as a result of all the modern pollutants American industry unleashes on its citizens daily.
